Start Date: 11/14/2017Start Time: 5:00 PM
End Date: 11/14/2017

Event Description:
Winona Poet Laureate Ken McCullough will be reading from his work in the Miller Auditorium (Stark Hall) at Winona State University as part of WSU’s Great River Reading Series.

McCullough has received numerous awards for his poetry. His most recent books of poetry are Dark Stars (2017) and Broken Gates (2012), both published by Dragonfly Press, as well as a book of stories, Left Hand (2004). McCullough has worked closely with Cambodian poet U Sam Oeur, survivor of the Pol Pot regime; they have published Sacred Vows, a bilingual edition of U’s poetry, and Crossing Three Wildernesses, a memoir.
McCullough has degrees from the University of Delaware and the Writers’ Workshop of the University of Iowa.  He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., but spent his formative years in St. John’s, Newfoundland. More recently, he has drawn inspiration from the mountains of Montana and Wyoming and the bluff lands of the Upper Mississippi. In 1992 he was adopted into the Miniconjou band of the Lakota Nation. McCullough lives on a farm outside Winona, MN with his wife, Lynn Nankivil, a playwright.
This event is free and open to the public.
